During School Hours
If you have a safeguarding or welfare concern and need to speak to a school safeguarding lead during school hours, then please contact the school on 01455 283247. You can also email dsl@orchardcofe.leics.sch.uk which will forward your email directly to our safeguarding leads. Although emails are monitored regularly during school hours, for urgent matters please speak directly to a school safeguarding lead rather than email.
Outside of School Hours
If you have a safeguarding concern and it is outside of school hours or during the school holiday, you should call Leicestershire First Response Children’s Duty on 0116 3050005. For non-urgent matters, you can email dsl@orchardcofe.leics.sch.uk which will forward your email directly to our safeguarding leads. During school holidays and out of school hours, emails are monitored periodically, however, response times may vary. If a person is in immediate danger or a crime is being committed, call the police on 999.
We are an Operation Encompass School.
The Operation Encompass Information Sharing Platform is a police and education early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse or incidents in the home which could impact negatively on them. Information is shared by the police with a school's trained Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident or an incident where where they feel there has been an impact upon a child’s physical, emotional or mental well-being thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child.
Our school is part of the Operation Encompass Information Sharing Platform. This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse or who have been witness to incidents which could impact on their physical, emotional or mental wellbeing. Leicestershire police will contact Orachard directly if such an incident has occurred in your child's home.
Children experiencing domestic abuse are negatively impacted by this exposure; domestic abuse has been identified as an Adverse Childhood Experience and can lead to emotional, physical and psychological harm. Operation Encompass aims to mitigate this harm by enabling immediate support, making a child's day better and giving them a better tomorrow.
Operation Encompass believes that children are victims of domestic abuse in their own right and should be acknowledged as such.
